If you haven’t already checked out the new project called Google Wave, then you need to watch this video. It is rather lengthy at nearly an hour and a half but you will enjoy it because this new browser-based ISO, instant messenger, mass communicator, or whatever you want to call it, is revolutionary and smart. The video demonstrates how easy files, photos, and media forms can be shared easily and quickly with other wave users.
In Wave, you can edit the original messages with a section with who can or cannot go to the party tonight. Replies can be made within a conversation string, rather than at the end, making conversations a great deal easier to track. No more email clutter!
Just like Facebook, you can create applications that run in Wave. This allows for developers to add games and other applications to an already impressive platform.
The system is also based around a “Wiki” style platform where each message can be edited to allow for a more streamlined communications process.
The drag and drop file system is easy to use and a blessing in disguise. You can drag you favorite photos, create photo albums, and collaborate with other Wave users in a way that has never been done before. This would be excellent for web designers or anyone who works in a collaborative environment.
My favorite feature of Google Wave is that it allows you to embed your waves on any web page. You can then customize it and show it to clients or your fellow team members when working on projects.
Best of Google Wave is absolutely 100% open source. Let the wave begin!
